Resonator guitars offer a sound that’s just as distinct as their unique metal-infused design!
Resonator guitars were originally developed to provide better volume and projection than the familiar acousticdesign. By embedding metal cones into the top of the guitar (the soundboard), an even volume boost was produced.
Despite the original idea behind the design, resonators became popular for the distinct sound they offered. Naturally it could be described as metallic, with a shimmering treble emphasis and a healthy midrange boost. There are a number of different types of resonator guitar, including the tricone, biscuit and dobro varieties.
